“The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.”
We live in turbulent times. Wherever we look; whether on a television screen, a newspaper or even our smartphones or tablets, we are constantly being bombarded with bad news.
Not a single day goes by without another story from the ‘front line’ of a war in a distant land that less than a decade or two ago would’ve been on our bucket list of places to go for a holiday.
However, and without delving into the minefield that is politics and the foreign policy of our governments, we want to focus on something positive – the common humanity in us all, and the love and compassion that exists in all of us. Yes, call us dreamers, but we believe in the power of our collective humanity to overcome the negativity that pervades our lives in this day and age.
We want to start a revolution of the heart and mind. We want to spread the message of peace, love and unity amongst our fellow man, and woman, so that we can turn the tide of negativity and celebrate the good that exists in all of us. And it is with this very simple idea that we have started the Iftar Initiative.
To quote Barack Obama (like him or not, he does say some great things), “Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek”. We are not waiting. We are taking our first steps towards that revolution of the heart and mind that will unify us all. And what better way to do it than over some delicious food in our favourite locals up and down the country!
Join us and be the change that we all seek. Sign up, spread the word, share it across your social media streams and engage with all who will listen!
We are #theBIGeat2017. We are #foodiesforPEACE.
